The goal here is to give you some pointers so you can make the most of your time on MAX FilmPro, and....to keep it short and easy, so you can find the answer to any particular question you may have. Tips are listed in relation to their various departments on the Site since each department serves a unique purpose. This is an ever changing document, so feel free to make suggestions that you think will help you and others. Our e-mail address is on the home page. We hope you will use MAX as a RESOURCE and as a TOOL.
A FEW GENERAL BASICSFRAMES - Did you know you can go back within a single frame in two ways, by clicking on the frame in question holding your mouse button down and highlighting the "back" choice, or after clicking on the frame using the "Go" pulldown menu at the top of your browser and selecting "Back". More about frames in the respective departments below. The Department menu bar at the top of the page enables you to move
to any part of the Site easily and quickly. The MAX logo takes you back to the home
page. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: You will notice that to the left of the PRODUCTION RESOURCE (PR) listings, in addition to the hand in the top box (see CLIPBOARD below), some of the listings have a magnifying glass next to them in a lower box. This indicates that there is more information about this service provider or crew member, which you can access by clicking on the magnifying glass. You'll also notice the banner visibility at the top of some of the pages. You can gain more information about that resource by clicking on the banner. SEARCH OPTIONS IN PRODUCTION RESOURCES provide you with three ways to search.
You decide how broad, or narrow you want to search. A first layer search gives you a broad response. It will allow you to do a search from the first PRODUCTION RESOURCES page, which will search the entire database. For example: if you're looking for a composer, it may not matter where in the world they are. Search from the first PR page, the one with the regional list in the left frame. Another option is to do a narrower search. The second layer allows you to narrow your search by entering a region and then entering what you want in the search field. To keep your search narrow include full text, and surround it with quotation marks ("), e.g. "Bob Smith" or "bucking horses", or even "123 4th St.". For a broader search, use more general criteria, e.g. horse or Smith or, guns pistols, without the quotes. For example: if you're looking for "bucking horses", any listing with that in the listing, or in the text of their resume or Ad-Visor will be found. Giving you a quick way to find specific needs. The regular search will return only documents with all the words in your search querie. The "Match any word" box creates a search containing any of the words listed. For example: a search for "bucking horse" without the "any" box checked will return only documents with both the words "bucking" and "horse" in them. A search with the same words but with the "any" box checked will return documents containing either "bucking" or "horse" or both "bucking" and "horse". The search field only acts upon alpha/numeric values in your search.
Symbols, and punctuation will interupt the search response. Also, the search will
give no response if only a single letter is requested, that attempt will receive
an error notice and no response. ![]() The CLIPBOARD saves you time! MAX has created a way for you to assemble your own custom worksheet of resources with the use of the CLIPBOARD. In the PRODUCTION RESOURCES AREA, click on the box with the hand in it to the left of any listing and you will notice that the red clipboard in the upper right hand corner of your screen will change from plain red to displaying a sheet of paper. That means you have stored some information. Accumulate as many listings as you wish in any combination of categories, then click on the clipboard and there you are, the specific resources you want to follow-up with. You can print your list, or copy it right onto a document in your computer. Its a tool: for Production Managers and Coordinators, to help you gather resources for a shoot. For everyone maintaining contact with companies or people who hire your services or rent or purchase your products. It's an excellent marketing tool to assemble a mailing list of people you want to send information to, or call. FRAMES: When you have opened an Ad-Visor in PRODUCTION RESOURCES you can go back to the list of service providers just by clicking on the right frame, holding down your mouse button and selecting "Back". It will take you back to the previous frame. To return to the list of regions in the left frame just click on the (GREEN) PRODUCTION RESOURCES department button at the top of the page. The ABBREVIATIONS next to the crew names will give you an idea of which particular areas of production the individual specializes in.
SEARCH: Location Scout offers logistical information. And once again, you can do a general search or more detailed. You can read through entire documents in a particular region to see what the region has to offer, or you can look for something specific in a broader time zone area. The item you are looking for will be highlighted in the text so its easy to find. For example: If you type waterfall in the search field, and select the eastern standard time zone, it will return several documents that contain the word waterfall. By clicking on "North Carolina - scenic areas/notable sites" and scrolling down, you will notice the word waterfall appears in red. (In the near future active text will lead you to photos of your selection.) FRAMES: When you have opened a document in response to a left frame topic in LOCATION SCOUT you can go back to the previous document just by clicking on the right frame, holding down your mouse button and selecting "Back". It will take you back to the previous frame. To go back to the list of regions in the left frame just click on the (YELLOW) LOCATION SCOUT department button at the top of the page.
